Essay on Wild Pork & Watercress

This essay will illustrate the theme of love displayed in the novel Wild Pork & Watercress, written by Barry Crump.

Wild Pork And Watercress exhibits this feeling strongly through Ricky Baker’s connections. Ricky Baker is introduced as a troublemaker, regardless of that being mentioned Aunty Bella decided to celebrate his birthday for the first time, even giving him a dog.

Love is not only what you feel in your heart. Love is also gained from shared experiences and tribulations showcased by Ricky Baker and Uncle Hec and their journey. Their relationship and love was earned and you don’t see that everyday.

Wild Pork And Watercress demonstrates the tougher side of love pointing out that love isn’t just affection and caring. Showed with resilient personalities in its characters accomplishing its unique establishment to the novel. Wild Pork And Watercress also relates to many of our Maori kids also encouraging the readers of this novel.

I personally love this novel because of how love is displayed throughout the text. I have directly lived with this form of love no doubt my whole life, it is one of my favorites.

“Haiku” Poems

In English class we have been learning how to create poems and we learnt how to make haiku’s because we read about Ricky Baker.

A haiku is a Japanese poem consisting of seventeen syllables, in the first line there are five syllables, in the second line there are seven syllables and in the last line there are five again.

Haiku’s are important to Japanese culture because they see haiku’s as a way to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the world around us.

A quick haiku from me is…

I am a flower.

My brother is black power.

This world is ours.

Mutations

In science class we have been learning about mutations and mutagens.

A beneficial mutation in humans is the CCR5-delta 32 mutation, making carriers immune to HIV (human immunodeficiency virus infection). Having CCR5-delta 32 makes you sound like your a gun under your name and you don’t get HIV. sounds like a win to me!

A harmful mutation in humans is cancer and it is the worst mutation in my opinion because it can form in almost any organ or tissue of your body.

Mutations contribute to the diversity of life on earth by spreading through animals and humans or being given to them at birth.

If I were to imagine myself as a scientist studying mutations I would like to see if a mutated base sequence could be restored in any way.
